Instructor Profile 2021

Hi there, my name is Jeff Elliott.

I have been cooking/baking for quite some time. My career began in the early 80’s as an apprentice at the Arizona Biltmore where my skills and knowledge led me to eventually become Executive Pastry Chef. After a stint teaching at Scottsdale Culinary Institute, my wife and I moved overseas where I had the opportunity to teach baking and culinary. When we returned to the States, we settled in the Philadelphia area, but always longed to return to Phoenix. Often times people ask me for tips to be successful, here are a few:

  1. This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun.” 2 Corinthians 5:17. This is a verse that reminds me that my identity is not in my job or title, but in the fact that I am a child of God.
  2. “Never fry bacon naked.” I know you’re thinking of the consequences.
  3. This last one is the secret to successful baking and cooking and if you follow it, you will be successful every single time you prepare food. “Scale and measure the ingredients accurately and follow the instructions on the recipe.” It is really that simple.

I truly enjoy teaching here at Arizona Culinary Institute and I hope to see you here someday.

Happy Cooking!!!
Chef Elliott
